Introduction

History of Pilibhit Tiger Reserve
The forests of Pilibhit have a long conservation history dating back to the British era when they were declared reserved forests in the late 19th century. Over time, increasing awareness about wildlife protection led to stronger conservation efforts.
The area was officially declared a wildlife sanctuary in February 2014.
It was later notified as a tiger reserve on 9 June 2014 under Project Tiger.
